The "Late Over"

IMG_5410.JPG

To kick off the adventure to the Netherlands, it started with a late night flight into Minnesota arriving at midnight.. This visit to see my sister has been a long overdue, and because I arrived there so late I refer to as a "late over" (get it?!?! 😝😁). Just an overnight visit with my lovely sister, niece, nephew, and my sister's fiancΓ©. After arriving later then expected due to a flight delay. We stayed up to 3am chatting the morning away.  The next morning was a big adventure that started with coffee at the local coffee shop Avant Garden. Followed by a trip to the stables to see her horses 🐴! PS.. Minnesota is so green compared to the desert!! I mean, wow!!

My Sisters family are pro's at horse and stable!!After a quick ride, and some grazing I helped my nephew take the horse poo out!! #ramdomfun. Funny Side Note: Any chance I had a possible heart murmur was coooorrected by the electric fence shock (Zap!). I mean, a girl sometimes leans on a fence with a hot wire at the top.😱😜Only, unexpected 5,000 volt shocks can really wake your sorry ASS right UP!

A little background about my sister and me....

So.. a few years ago, a "life script" happened.. the kind that the we regularly use the words "lifetime channel" is uses as a verb in sentences.. we all have them! We are all part of the stories that just write them selves. That put us in Awe of who we are as people. That we grow with and from..

To summarize.... a few years ago, I received a phone call from my 60+ year old father asking me if I was sitting down.. asking me "How would you feel if You had a sister". Completely confused that my father who has been married several times might have gotten someone pregnant 😱. Might be adopting😱 might be with someone who wants his sperm😱..Whelp, tuned out that he did get someone pregnant, but way before he met my mother. Way before I was a twinkle in his eye, or even a magic moment... In fact 7 yeas prior to me being born.. this of course is its own story.. tho, not my story to tell..

Turns out I have a sister and she fought and petitioned the courts to have the adoption paperwork un-sealed.. we met at the airport in Denver a few years back.. biology is a funny thing. I didn't have a full grasp of it until I met my sister and all the quirky body mannerisms in common, thoughts, foods, nature are in the forefront view of interaction with a complete stranger. Someone that is not a stranger at all, but seems like simply a part of your own self. Few!!!! Well.. now that the bit of background is out of the way.

Back to the "late-over" visit with my Sister in Minnesota.. Looking across the table... I see my face looking back at me from across the table...in my niece, nephew, and sister. Can you imagine....not seeing similarities in your family and wondering why your so different? Feature recognition is such a core part of babies and parents. I look at my niece, and I get it. So much so.... that it brings me to tears. I feel that piece of my heart fill up because of the biology and heart connection that is truly such a trip!

Long story short, I'm thankful to have a sister, and a fantastically unique niece and nephew! I'm thankful to be visiting and witnessing them in life. As much as a visitor can see in less then a 24 hour "late-over".
