“Nasty Women”

The Pussy Inquisition by Roy G. Beev “What do you see?” Fascination with a certain part of the female reproductive system dominated the conversation during the 2016 election cycle. In the wake of November 8th, the oppressive and nightmarish political landscape reminiscent of a Kafka novel harkens us back to an age where men treated women’s bodies as an extension of their own. Inspired by the haunting sterile images administered during Rorschach personality inkblot tests dominating the world of psychology during the 1950’s, the women of Roy G. Beev believe that if society is going to be all up in women’s junk, then they should give the people what they want. Roy G. Beeve is a collaborative consisting of local artists: Delaney Dickerson, Mel Vayo, and Savage. Artelshow and {9} The Gallery are pleased to present Gods & Monsters

Inspired by the juxtaposition of darkness and light, of good and evil, of the real and the imagined, Gods & Monsters brings a diversity of content and creative interpretation to these contrasts. Using a broad spectrum of mediums and subject matter over 40 local and national visual artists explore concepts of origin, myth, divinity and morality.

Show @ GreenHaus in Phoenix AZ

Show @ GreenHaus in Phoenix AZ

Stop by June 21- July 18th

What's all that neat stuff under the plexiglass front you ask? "Found objects, some paint, and an idea with zodiac signs" I would reply.

This is a very special show for me for two reasons. 1. it's at GreenHaus which I hold dear to my heart. 2. The opening of the show starts on the summer solstice 2013.

While trying to figure out how to make the GreenHaus show special. I thought of a recent piece that many people enjoyed looking at. This sparked the found object creative bonanza. Some of the objects in the artwork include (An old couch cushion, a box of chocolates from Hawaii, an old purse, CD's, disco balls, glass game pieces, Old gold buttons from my Grandma, several 70's materials passed down from my Mom, pleather, peacock feathers, and an old pair of my moms jeans. )

The goal was to make something that folks could relate to that had a little Shine and sparkle.

Special thanks to Cole and Dayna from GreenHaus, and Cameo Hill for her constant support and help!
